Lots of you awesome people are asking if I will be in Carson for the 2014 Reebok CrossFit Games next week! I WISH!
I had the privilege of spectating the CrossFit Games in 2011, it was an amazing experience that I will never forget and hope to revisit in the future! I met incredible athletes, and finished the trip with a bang, it got me thinking- I should share it with you!
In 2011, my husband Clayton qualified in a team with CrossFit Gold Coast for the CrossFit Games! It was very exciting, I remember being star struck at the athlete registration when seeing athletes like Chris Spealler and Camille Le-Blanc Bazinet. The athletes I respect, admire and look up to were there in real life, it was crazy cool. I’m definitely one of those people that really get star struck, its actually a little embarrassing at how uncool I play it when I’m in the same vicinity as someone well known.
Clayton and the CrossFit Gold Coast team did so well over the course of the weekend finishing up 21st in the World. I was in awe of all the athletes and what they were bringing to floor. The atmosphere was incredible, music was blaring, sun was shining the Games is every CrossFitters DREAM! Clay suggested I get a snap with this guy Rich Froning, I asked him and Rich couldn’t have been nicer! This was just before Rich faced his last WOD for the Games, he went on to win the 2011 CrossFit Games and every year after. Very grateful for this moment.
The week after the Games, Clay and I visited my brother and his family who live in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, the most beautiful place in the world! On the second day in Lake Tahoe, Clay and I trained at CrossFit Avalanche, then we went and found a spot to look at the gorgeous Lake and enjoy a coffee. We were happily chatting away when, to my surprise Clay proposed(!!!) making it one of the happiest trips of my life.
So, pretty safe to say, my experience of the CrossFit Games was EPIC! I wish I was going this year, but I have so much exciting things happening here with CrossFit Babes that I am happy to leave it for another time. Don’t worry I will be watching it from Australia via laptop, screaming for my favourite athletes from my couch. Are you going to the CrossFit Games? Maybe they will have the Games in Australia in the future and you could visit me and CrossFit Babes!
If you are spectating, supporting and or competing I hope you have the best time ever! Thanks for reading!
